Homes and businesses beyond Bell’s Flats were without power for more than 24 hours, after an outage early Monday. The outage occurred at about 9 a.m., and affected residents along the Chiniak and Pasagshak distribution line.
Kodiak Electric Association’s president Darron Scott said linemen searched for the cause of the outage until dark Monday night and resumed this (Tuesday) morning. Using a helicopter to travel over the backcountry, they found a broken conductor and replaced it. Power was restored to all affected customers by about 3:30 this (Tuesday) afternoon.
