At its most recent work session, Kodiak Island Borough Assembly members reiterated their call for the borough to hire a project manager to oversee the coming expansion and renovation of Kodiak High School. Several had strong words for the administration at the last regular assembly meeting, saying they felt their wishes were being ignored.
On Thursday, Assemblywoman Carol Austerman told Borough Manager Rick Gifford that she wants the process to hire a project manager to be a priority.

Gifford said he understood Austerman’s position, but that there were many projects on the borough’s plate, making it hard to prioritize the search for a project manager.

The document in question is an RFP, or request for proposals. The borough would use that to attract qualified parties to apply for the position. However Assemblyman Mel Stephens said an RFP might not be needed:

Gifford told the assembly he did not have a timeframe to have an RFP ready, but said it would need to be advertised for a minimum of three weeks. The timeline for the expansion and renovation had previously been pushed back one year to next spring.
