Eager young elementary students filed into classrooms for the first day of school last Friday. KMXT’s Brianna Gibbs took a trip out to her alma mater, Peterson Elementary School, to capture the first day excitement.

Grades 1 through 6 started last Friday and Kodiak High School and Middle School started on Thursday. Soon-to-be kindergarteners get a bit more time to prepare for the start of their academic careers. They will begin on August 30.

This week marks the first full week of classes for grades 1 through 12. Next week schools will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day.
