The Kodiak High School basketball teams continued to roll over the weekend, with the Lady Bears remaining undefeated. The Bears played a home-and-away series with the Kenai Kardinals.
The Kodiak boys lost by 14 points on Friday night, 38-to-52, up in Kenai. But, they came roaring back on Saturday – holding Kenai to exactly half as many points as the night before. They dismantled the Kards 68-to-26.
On Friday, playing at home, the Kodiak girls jumped out to a 19-4 lead and never trailed in holding off the Lady Kardinals 43-to-35. Hannah Wandersee had 14 points for Kodiak and Carissa Cannon added 11.
Cannon alone had almost as many points as the entire Kardinal team did on Saturday. She led all scorers with 15 points as Kodiak routed Kenai 61-to-17. Sarah Ng added 11, with most of those coming on three-pointers. The Bears defense held the Kards to single digits in every quarter, and only two points in the fourth. The Lady Bears are a perfect 13-and-0 on the season.
