Weather Puts Kennicott Off Schedule

Jay Barrett/KMXT
Stormy weather kept the state ferry Kennicott docked in Kodiak overnight. By the time it sails, the State Marine Highway System says it will be about 20-hours behind schedule.
It’s scheduled to depart now at 2 this afternoon on its way back to Southeast Alaska. It should arrive in Chenega Bay at 5 tomorrow morning and spend as little time there as possible before sailing for Whittier and points beyond.
The Kennicott’s departure was delayed by high winds and forecast seas of 20- to 26-feet.
