KMXT 100.1 FM Public Radio in Kodiak, Alaska
Lieutenant Governor Mead Treadwell was in Colorado Springs last week participating in the National Space Symposium, in conjunction with the annual business meeting of the Aerospace States Association, which he chairs.
While there, Treadwell invited the aerospace community to consider Alaska, and particularly the Kodiak Launch Complex, as a strategic resource for the nation.
He said state policies help Alaska become a leader in space, from infrastructure, such as the KLC, to science, technology, engineering and math education programs in the schools.
He said Alaska’s space leadership for the next generation depends on having kids who are excited about the amazing things space activity does for earth every day.
The 29th National Space Symposium, hosted annually by the Space Foundation, gathered 9,000 members of the worldwide aerospace community to discuss the industry’s outlook. The agenda included a special focus on the industry’s role in cyber security and America’s role in space.
