About 15 grams of heroin were prevented from hitting Kodiak’s street after an arrest last week. Kodiak Police Chief said the department received an anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers that two individuals would be transporting heroin to the island via the state ferry Tustumena.
After compiling other investigative materials and obtaining a search warrant, Wallace said police were able to make contact with 26-year-old Greg Pruitt and 28-year-old Kevleen Clark when the ferry docked on Friday.
“Our drug enforcement unit along with the Alaska State Troopers with some help from the Alaska Marine Highway System personnel, were able to make contact with Clark and Pruitt, and where in they found that they were in position of approximately 15 grams of heroin – all packaged in small quantities for distribution.”
Wallace said the heroin has an estimated street value of $7,500 in Kodiak.
Both Pruitt and Clark were arrested and charged with misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second and fourth degrees. They were arraigned in court on Saturday with bail set at $20,000 for Pruitt and $15,000 for Clark.
Wallace said the investigation is on going, and noted that both Pruitt and Clark are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
