Kodiak Swimmers Dominate Soldotna Meets

A pair of Kodiak High School juniors defended their swimming titles at the SoHi Pentathlon. The event brings swimmers together and they each compete in five events and the lowest combined score wins. Kodiak’s Marina Cummiskey and Talon Lindquist had total combined finishing times of 3-minutes 3.29-seconds and 2-minutes 29.4-seconds, respectively. Lindquist swept all five races and set new records in three of them. Cummiskey won her first three races handily before finishing fifth in the breaststoke and second in the freestyle. Kodiak boys had 62 points, SoHi 39 and Colony 22. On the girls’ side, Colony won with 45 points, SoHi with 38 and Kodiak had 30.

At the SoHi Invite the next day, Kodiak boys were victorious with 147 points; the Kodiak girls were third with 76.
