City Council considers three new police vehicles at tonight’s regular meeting

KMXT will broadcast meeting live at 7:30 p.m.

The Kodiak City Council meets tonight to a light agenda. There are no public hearings scheduled and there are just a few items being considered.

An amendment to the Pier II agreement with American President Lines will be read for the first time. Action on that agreement would be taken at a later meeting if approved tonight.

There is also a bid award for three new vehicles for the Kodiak Police Department. City staff recommends the authorization of a sole source purchase for three Tahoes  outfitted as police vehicles. They would be used by patrol officers for routine patrol and emergency response.

The proposed purchase is with Alaska Sales and Service for three 2019 Chevy Tahoes. They would be outfitted for police use by Alaska Safety. The total price for all three vehicles and equipment is $141,000.

In preparation for the holiday season, the council will consider cancelling the regular meetings near both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

And finally, the Council is plans to meet in Executive Session for the City Clerk’s annual performance review.

Even there are no public hearings scheduled, there are two points in the meeting when the public can comment on any subject. One is early in the meeting, the other near the end.

KMXT will broadcast the meeting live beginning at 7:30.
