The Alaska Marine Highway System cancelled a round of sailings involving six ferries due to the ongoing strike by employees represented by the Inlandboatmen’s Union.
According to a press release received by KMXT, the cancellations and scheduled next sailing are as follows.
- MV Kennicott: remains canceled through August 7. When service resumes it will be the resumption of the normal schedule, departing from Ketchikan.
- MV Tustumena: canceled through August 7. When service resumes it will be the Kodiak to Homer run on August 7, then resumption of the normal schedule.
- MV Columbia is canceled through Wednesday, August 7. When service resumes it will be a Ketchikan to Bellingham run that day, then resumption of the normal schedule.
- MV Malaspina is canceled through Sunday, August 4. When service resumes it will be the Juneau to Petersburg run that day, then resumption of the normal schedule.
- MV Aurora and LeConte canceled through Friday, August 2. Service may resume on Saturday, August 3.
- MV Tazlina and Lituya (day boats), canceled through Friday, August 2. Service may resume on Saturday, August 3.
The press release also notes:
- Passenger fares for canceled sailings are being refunded. The Reservations Call Center is open Monday-Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Due to the high volume of calls, it may take time to connect with a customer service representative.
- To inquire about your refund, please call 1-800-642-0066.
- AMHS staff will never request credit card information from passengers. Refunds are automatically returned to the credit card on file.
