If you suffered a loss from the 2016 pink salmon disaster, you should have received an application to file a claim for a share of the $56 million in federal relief funds If you haven’t gotten the application in the mail yet, better check with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

We have a report on how the relief money is going to be divvied up.

Managers predicted a bumper crop of chum salmon in Southeast Alaska but instead, it’s been a very disappointing season. Prices are way down as well.

We had help from Angela Denning at KFSK in Petersburg. Liz Ruskin with Alaska Public Media based in Washington, D.C. And Alaska Fish Radio’s Laine Welch.

Good luck fishing everyone, and remember life vests really do save lives. Use one. And definitely be sure to have one on your kids when they are near the water.
