KMXT 100.1 FM Public Radio in Kodiak, Alaska
A new family event takes place this weekend.
The Venture-Thru-Vehicles will be held at Oscar’s Dock on the spit downtown from 11-5 on Saturday.
The basic premise is exactly as it sounds — get a bunch of cool, giant trucks, boats, and a helicopter together in a parking lot and let boys and girls of all ages explore them and sit in the driver’s seat. They can even honk the horn!
Our guests on this week’s Talk of the Rock program are Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sarah Phillips and Kodiak Police Officer Shane Parker.
Saturdays’ event is sponsored by the Chamber, with the help of numerous Chamber members, and Parker was the person who thought up the idea–or at least brought the idea to Kodiak from the town he was in previously.
