On the agenda: tonight’s City Council meeting

There will be a city council meeting tonight in Borough Assembly Chambers at 7:30 p.m.

On the agenda for tonight, the city council will be announcing a proclamation declaring September Senior Center Month.

The council will also a review a new ordinance to lease property near Pier 2 to North Pacific Fuel, which is owned by a fuel company called Petrostar. According to city documents, Petrostar has leased the land for five year terms since 1999 and is looking to renew the lease for another five years for a total of almost $73,000.

Finally the council is going to be considering authorizing a $47,000 upgrade to the city’s emergency response software, and renewing a the city’s internet and phone contract with Alaska Communications.
