BREAKING — Fate of man accused of killing two co-workers at Coast Guard Communication station is in hands of jury

The fate of a Kodiak man accused of the 2012 double-murder at the Coast Guard Communication Station is now in the hands of an Anchorage jury.

James Michael Wells is on trial for the shooting deaths of two co-workers at the Coast Guard ComSta at Buskin Lake.

Closing arguments concluded earlier today in the case that is being retried based on the successful appeal of the original trial.

In the 2014 trial, Wells was convicted of six felony charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, in the shooting deaths of Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class James Hopkins and retired Chief Petty Officer Richard Belisle.

Both worked at ComSta Kodiak where the shooting occurred.
