Kodiak COVID Count: Kodiak reaches 40 hospitalizations since start of pandemic; falls below 50 active cases

The Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization has reported eight new cases of COVID-19 locally for the Kodiak Island Borough, including two travel-related cases, five close contact cases, and one community transmission case.

This brings the case count of the Kodiak Island Borough to 993 total cases since the start of the pandemic, with 46 cases classified as active locally.

There have been 40 hospitalizations and five deaths locally due to COVID-19; there is currently one active hospitalizations locally.

Effective this morning, the Kodiak Emergency Operations Center has reduced their risk level from Red to Yellow. Business patron capacity has gone from 25% of the fire Marshal limit to 50%. Face coverings are still required.

Airport testing: Available only for incoming travelers and outgoing village/ remote site travelers.
