While students are enjoying their summer vacations, the staff of the Kodiak Island Borough School District is keeping busy managing a number of construction projects.

The school board had a chance to tour four of the sites in town yesterday (Monday) and later the public heard an update from the district’s operations manager Scott Williams during the board’s regular meeting.

(School Projects 1 :35s “…doing well, on schedule.”)

Williams said the other projects in town are on schedule as well. They include seismic retrofitting at Kodiak High School, Kodiak Middle School and Peterson Elementary School.

The only project that’s behind schedule is renovation work being done at Ouzinkie School. Williams said the contractor on that project will tackle the most important jobs first.

(School Projects 2 :40s “…few more months for that.”)

Williams said the work on the three town schools currently being renovated should be done by the middle of August.
