The Kodiak City Council tonight will meet in a special session to consider adopting budget goals for next fiscal year. The city’s fiscal year begins July 1, and the goals will help direct the city manager and council members as they prepare and approve next year’s budget.

City Manager Aimee Kniaziowski said the goals cover a wide range of financial concerns within the city’s areas of operation;

-((City Goals 1 :51 "They’re very similar to…to the city."))

Other goals include quality of life in Kodiak, economic development, support for local non-profits, and whether or not to take on debt.

Kniaziowski said the goals that are expected to be adopted tonight will then be used to structure and fine-tune the city’s budget for next year:

-((City Goals 2 :48 "The council makes…achieve those goals."))

Tonight’s special council meeting begins at 7:00-not the usual 7:30-at the Emergency Operations Center at the new police station.

KMXT will not be broadcasting this meeting, but we will broadcast the regular borough assembly meeting live, beginning at 7:30 tonight.
