The 2-and-oh Kodiak High School Bears football team have jumped three spots in the Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network’s rankings for medium and small schools. Going into last week’s game against Houston, the Bears were number 5 in the statewide poll, but when Monday night’s poll was released, Kodiak was in the second slot, behind Eielson, also 2-and-0. After their loss, Houston, which had been number 2, dropped out of the top five.
Soldotna, at 1-and-1, is third, followed by Monroe and Nikiski, both 2-and-0. Kodiak is on the road for the next three weeks, starting with Palmer on Saturday.
Defending large-school state champion Service remained number 1 in the large school poll, followed by Palmer, South Anchorage, Juneau-Douglas and North Poll.
