The hunt for a new Kodiak Parks and Recreation Director continues. That information came from City Manager Aimee Kniazowski during Thursday’s City Council meeting.
The city has been without a Parks and Recreation director since Ian Fulp retired in September after almost 40 years in the position. Fulp’s former job isn’t the only position that needs to be filled. Kniazowski said the city is still on the hunt for a recreation superintendent for the ice rink, and she was recently given notice that they will soon have to replace the recreation superintendent at the Teen Center.

Kniazowski also used a portion of Thursday’s meeting to address a rumor that she was cutting the operating budget for the parks and recreation department. She said that is not true and there is also no intent to reduce the number of employees within the department. The city will begin the budget development process for fiscal year 2014 in the coming weeks.
