High School Plans Update Shared

Diana Gish/KMXT At the school board’s last regular meeting, director of operations Scott Williams gave an update on the progress of the Kodiak High School expansion and renovation. During last month’s borough election, voters passed a bond proposition to fund the project. The measure passed by a narrow margin of 167 votes.

Doc Myers, Lions Club Globetrotter

Diana Gish/KMXT These days Jeremiah "Doc" Myers is in town for about ten days at a time. He’s an international director for Lion’s Club International. There are 32 international directors representing 205 nations around the world. Myers travels to Lion sponsored hospitals and clinics, of which there are over 600. Many of them provide services for free.

City Council Urged to Sign Climate Change Compact

Diana Gish/KMXT At the Kodiak City Council’s regular meeting recently Teresa Peterson spoke during public comments about the Alaska Coastal Communities Global Climate Change Compact. The compact was drafted last February in Homer. A number of Coastal Alaska communities in Alaska have signed it and Peterson was hoping Kodiak would do so as well.
